THE PROJECT
MultiChoice is Africa's largest satellite TV and streaming group, home to DStv, Showmax, and SuperSport. I worked across two roles here: as a UX/UI Intern on DStv Now and FLUX (DStv's internal research platform), and as a Content Designer on Showmax Sports being responsible for content discovery across Showmax Sports, DStv Now, and SuperSport VOD. This is where my design career began.
GOAL
Dedicated to optimising content discovery for the Showmax Sports, DStv Now, and SuperSport VOD applications; streamlining content discovery, ensuring seamless synchronisation of sports programming with accurate schedules, and minimising disruptions so every customer enjoys the ultimate sports experience.
THE CHALLENGE
For Showmax Sports; sports fans are time-sensitive and unforgiving. If the right match isn't surfaced at the right moment, or schedule information is inaccurate, the experience fails. For FLUX, the internal research platform had outdated content, bad visual representation, uneasy navigation, an inconsistent design, a complex login process, and reports broken by improper tagging and making it near impossible for the team to track and share research effectively.
ROI
Across Showmax Sports, DStv Now, and SuperSport VOD, content discovery was refined and implemented via HTML and Cloudinary, ensuring consistent experiences and seamless schedule synchronisation across all three platforms. For FLUX, a full usability audit identified 9 critical problems and delivered 10 concrete design recommendations: visual clarity, easy navigation, layout consistency, adaptive design, automated email notifications, easy interaction, better product descriptions, simplified SSO login, a project timeline view, and cross-departmental research integration.
